Agri-tech Precision Farming Open Day - Arbroath Scotland
Hamish Wilkie who runs the Scotland operation for Agri-tech,
organised a successful Open Day for a group of 15 key arable
farmers in and
around the Fife and Angus region. Growers that attended the day
came with clear interests in to how get involved with Precision
Farming from a Nutrient Management viewpoint. Our thanks go to
Blair Hardy of Farmworks and Alistair Dickson from KRM Ltd, who
both braved the cold to talk with growers. Blair demonstrated the
hardware that "reads" GPS fertiliser application files
whilst Alistair demonstrated the functionality of KRM's new range
of fertiliser spreaders. Our thanks also go to the host farmer
of the day Graham Neill of Grange of Conon Farm Arbroath for allowing
us to invade the farm and make use of his excellent facilities.

Agri-tech
provides a range of Precision Farming Services, but often growers
are unsure how the process of Nutrient Mapping and Vari-rate
fertiliser spreading "slots together". By demonstrating
the chain of events from soil sampling through to vari-rate spreading,
and technology used to achieve this concept, growers left the
day with a clear understanding in terms of how the various processes
fit together.
