Precision
Nutrient & pH mapping Continued.
Once the field / block
has been sampled, the soil is sent to an independent laboratory
to be analysed for phosphorus, potassium,
magnesium
and pH. Additional elements can be analysed should they be required.
The analysis is then sent to SOYL whereby sample point and contour
maps showing the variation in nutrient levels across the field
are produced. These maps are easy to understand and give an immediate
picture to the soil’s fertility, and how it may vary across
the field. These maps can be used for three to four years before
the same area is re-sampled. In addition to producing these maps
SOYL will also make fertiliser recommendations and provide application
maps where needed. When the time comes to re-sample the old sampling
plan is re-loaded into the mapping software such that soil
samples are taken from
exactly the same location in the field.
